Our Story

          Eaglexit began in 2018 as a 501(c)3 organization exploring and educating the residents of Eagle River, North Fork, Birchwood, Chugiak, & Eklutna of the option to detach from the Municipality of Anchorage and incorporate as our own non-unified home rule borough. The Eaglexit Board has been preparing the petition package in accordance with the Constitution of the State of Alaska, Alaska Statute, Alaska Administrative Code, Local Boundary Commission published materials, and legal counsel. While simultaneously preparing the petition documents, the Eaglexit Board members and other volunteers have been conducting monthly town halls open to the public for the purpose of sharing our vision, educating the public on what we have learned, and to solicit public input.

          In December of 2025, the Eaglexit Board submitted the petition package to the Alaska Local Boundary Commission staff. LBC Staff subsequently returned the package as incomplete with annotations as to what required information was still needed. The Eaglexit Board has been meeting with legal counsel to amend the areas identified by the LBC staff and anticipate resubmitting the petition documents to LBC staff soon.

          Eaglexit Action was established as a 501(c)4 action organization to advance the social welfare of the residents of the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), Assembly District 2 (AD2) by:

  • campaigning for the detachment of MOA AD2 from the MOA and the simultaneous incorporation of those areas into a new non-unified home rule borough to be called the Chugach Regional Borough;

  • participate in grassroots lobbying by Eaglexit Action board members and volunteers to residents of MOA AD2; and

  • solicit and obtain signatures on our simultaneous detachment & incorporation petition.

          This decision isn't about division; it's about empowerment. By standing together, we can create a self-sufficient, vibrant borough that reflects our community's spirit and ensures a brighter future for generations to come. Join us in exploring this opportunity to secure our independence and shape a better tomorrow.

Together, we can chart a course where our neighborhoods thrive—on our terms.

Let’s make our voices heard.
